Lake Brownwood State Park - Lubbock

It took some 1500 miles, but today was the big day: pumpjacks. Quiet and rusting at first, but then vibrant yellow and in relentless slow-motion up-and-down swing. Hordes of them, left and right. This part of Texas is energy-driven. Heading west on highway 158, as we approached Garden City, we drove through a wind farm with what must have been hundreds of turbines on both sides of the road for miles and miles. All around Big Spring, particularly north of it along the Gail highway, there were all kinds of manmade objects sticking up in the air from the red earth as far as the eye could see. I understand that Texas leads the U.S. in wind power production. I believe it.
